… because it’s Friday
… because it is Friday …
On this Shabbat, I give thanks for the family and friends that I have, and for the community that I belong to. I give thanks also to little Auden, who makes my Shabbat much more Shalom. You all have a great and safe weekend! 🙂
Hodges Reservoir, or Lake Hodges (San Diego)
California has been under a severe drought for several years. I visited Lake Hodges this past weekend and I could see some of the effects of the drought on the lake. Despite the absence of rain, the natural vegetation, which is adaptable to the dry conditions, is alive and still grows.
It rained on our parade. Really!
This series is dedicated to the brave people of San Diego who watched or marched at the LGBT Pride Parade, despite the torrential rain of today. Special mention is made to the Temple Emanu-El team (we are used to dry conditions, but we proved that we can outperform under any type of weather ). You will note that no photo of the parade is shown here. I decided to give all my attention to the march. The interaction with the public is a very rich and rewarding experience. Thank you!
… because it’s Friday ( and because we must be hopeful)
A wonderful artist; a wonderful mind.
Eid Hadaleen, a self-taught artist from the village (Umm al-Khair), fashions perfect miniatures, using pliers, cutting and hammering tools, and iron wiring that has been heated up. (From Haaretz)

They use their hearts and minds in everything they do.
